Dentures

At Creek Road Dental you will be seen by our qualified Dental Prosthetist who will assess your mouth and teeth, and make the best recommendation for you.

A Dental Prosthetist (DP) is a qualified and skilled member of the dental profession and are the only registered providers specifically trained to construct, fit and maintain dentures and all other professional denture care services. All DPs are required to be qualified dental technicians before becoming DPs.

Dealing direct with us means you will save time and money as there is no middle-man and we personally construct your dentures or maintain, repair or reline your dentures as required. Where necessary we can provide additional referrals or consult and liaise with referring practitioners such as your GP, Dentist or Dental Specialist.

If your present dentures are in excess of two years old, if they show excessive wear, or if they are ill fitting and cause discomfort, we recommend making an appointment with us so that we can review your situation. Once fitted, dentures must be assessed yearly to ensure proper function and satisfactory health of your mouth. You do not need a referral to see us.

What’s a denture?

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and the surrounding gums and are coloured accordingly. There are two main types of dentures: complete and partial, plus you also get temporary dentures. Complete dentures are used when all your teeth are missing. Partial dentures are used when some of your natural teeth remain. Temporary dentures are sometimes used after you have had teeth removed. They are placed into the mouth as soon as the tooth/teeth are extracted so you never have to be without teeth and they help maintain gum structure while your gum heals and your permanent solution is being created.

Why dentures?

If we don’t have all our teeth, maintaining optimum health becomes an issue. The digestive system begins in the mouth and teeth help you to chew your food and mix it with saliva to aid digestion. If we don’t have our own teeth, or a denture substitute, it is extremely difficult to mix enough saliva with our food.

Every mouth is unique and requires personalised attention to enable denture design to suit your individual situation. Depending on what type of denture you require we will construct, fit and provide a complete and professional denture care service for you.
